I can remember being under the table and dreaming at 3 or 4 while my mom played records, and enjoying the music. Along with my two sisters we played music all the time. We had stuff like Little Jimmy Dickens, Elvis, Osmonds (sisters), and Johnny Mathis, and loved it all, as well as having great music programs throughout my school years.
We sang in kindergarten, church, on the bus, high school choir, and to the radio. Then in high school I played in a couple garage bands, and ironically, I never sang then. In 1990 the voice was rediscovered in several local contests. With a couple victories too!
Being in my early forties, I'm old enough to appreciate tunes from the fifties and young enough to still enjoy todays rock.
Major influences would be ALL southern rock groups (born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida), the greats like Zeppelin, Sinatra, Elvis, AC/DC, Rush, Queen, Bad Co., actually WAY too many to list.
Love the one hit wonders of the seventies.
Lee was also a contractor for Arlington County's Arts Al Fresco concert series for three years ('94 —'96) as a sound technician and was the stage manager for the Rosslyn Rennaisance Jazz Festival. That's 500 live shows with 300 different groups, practically ALL of the mid-Atlantic's best, from all genres of music.
Currently the owner of Capitol Karaoke & D.J. Company. With 16 years' experience, he's performed at places as diverse as the Ritz-Carlton, VFWs and local biker bars, and enjoys them all.
I get to sing five nights a week!!!!
I also get to set up and tear down a large P.A. five nights a week!
Don is the constant professional, playing in bands from East Coast to West Coast. He plays many styles and is always prepared for every gig. A man of few words, he lets his guitar speak for him. The best bandmate anybody could play with.
Craig started playing the piano in the third grade. His first gig was in the sixth grade for his school pageant where he played two songs from Steppenwolf & CCR. He got bored in the sixth grade with classical piano and dropped it for jazz training where learned for two years on Fender Rhodes. Then gave it all up for rock and played the guitar until 30-something. He switched back to piano and had to re-teach himself, and he came up with a combination of concert & jazz style. With the coming of synthesizers, he now play all sounds needed to help make the band sound whole. Craig has played music all around, from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Jeff started playing bass when he was 13. His first band was The Royal Flush, where their parents had to be their transportation. Other bands were Last Exit, The Impersonators, The Limitz, and Buffy's Boyfriends, to name a few. They were playing many teen clubs, bars, Sweet Sixteen parties, Bar Mitzvahs, outdoor festivals, and weddings.
Jeff's major influences were the brass bands: Blood, Sweat and Tears, Chicago, Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire. With rock influences like The Beatles, Grand Funk, Motown, Zappa, Little Feat, Knopfler, Steely Dan, and anybody from country to jazz. Favorite female of course is Joni Mitchell. Favorite bass player alive is Francis Rocco Prestia from Tower of Power, and the one that has left us is J. Pastorius. Also like Ray Brown, Alphonso Johnson, and McCartney.
Jeff has always played Fender Precision basses — nobody can beat them. He loves playing through any combination of 4, 6, or 8-10s. Give him an SVT any day. He loves Gallien-Krueger amps.
His normal day job is any combination of twisting wires and conduit.
His hobbies include: golf, hiking, museums, and getting away and making and listening to music.
Matthew started playing drums at age 10. Influences Steve Smith, Shannon Larkin, Neil Peart, Simon Phillips, Scott Rockenfield, Topper Headon, Jonathan Mover, Tommy Lee, Vinnie Appice, Troy Luccketta, and (of course!) Jeff Porcaro.
He really wails!
